Getting started
What is Orty?
Orty is a web app that helps freelancers decide which prospects deserve their attention. Drop in a prospect's profile screenshot at getorty.work and Orty returns a Client Opportunity Report: a 0–100 score, a confidence level, commercial-signal / need / fit ratings, the reasons to contact, the potential need, the best approach, the evidence, an explicit why-not, a personalized cold email, and a CRM entry synced per Whop account.
Who is Orty for?
Freelancers and small creative teams who win work through outreach — video editors first, plus motion designers, graphic and UI/UX designers, developers, copywriters, social media managers, photographers, marketers, SEO and paid-ads freelancers, consultants, coaches, and small agencies. If you send personalized outreach and want to know who's worth contacting, Orty is built for you.
What is the Client Opportunity score?
Every prospect gets a headline score out of 100 plus commercial-signal, need, and fit ratings, a confidence level, and the observed evidence behind each conclusion — followed by why to contact, the potential need, the best approach, a recommended outreach angle, and an explicit why-not section. It ranks demonstrated commercial signals over popularity on purpose: a smaller prospect who can pay beats a big one who can't.
Does Orty predict a prospect's budget?
No — and it won't pretend to. No tool can know a private budget from a public profile, so Orty doesn't output a dollar range. Instead it surfaces commercial signals you can verify (sponsorships, products they sell, hiring, publishing cadence, visible monetization) and shows the evidence; where the input doesn't support a claim, it says Unknown.
Does Orty find clients for me?
No — and that's deliberate. The Discovery Brief gives you where to look, 10 copy-paste search queries, and a scoring checklist (places, not people). Orty doesn't scrape lists or auto-message anyone. You find a prospect, paste it in (a profile, a Reddit post, a job listing, or a website), and Orty scores it and drafts the pitch.
Can I research something other than a social profile?
Yes. The Rate tab has a source selector: social/creator profile, Reddit/forum post, job/gig posting, LinkedIn/X profile, or a company website. A job post is judged on scope, budget intent, and red flags; a profile on cadence and monetization — the rubric adapts.
Is Orty free?
Yes — there's a real Free tier, not a trial: 3 ratings/day, 3 Co-Pilot messages/day, the full CRM, 1 portfolio, and AI profile generation. No API key needed — Orty runs the AI. Pro ($19.99/mo via Whop) adds 1,000 credits a month, batch triage, long-form video audits, in-app email sending, and unlimited portfolios. Cancel anytime.
What's the difference between Free and Pro?
Free: 3 ratings/day · 3 Co-Pilot messages/day · full CRM · 1 portfolio · AI profile generation. Pro ($19.99/mo via Whop): 1,000 credits a month — batch triage, long-form video audits, in-app email sending, and unlimited portfolios. Cancel anytime.
Do I need to know how to code?
No. Orty is a web app — open getorty.work, login with Whop, and you get a worked demo: screenshot → score → ready-to-send email. No API key to paste — Orty runs the AI for you. No terminal, no Python, no download.
Does Orty work on Mac?
Yes. Orty is a web app at getorty.work — works on Mac, Windows, and mobile. No installer, now web. Your CRM is synced per Whop account, so you can start on one device and continue on another.
AI keys & costs
Can I use my own AI API key?
You can — that's what the $5/mo Signal plan is for. By default Orty runs a managed AI engine (GLM-5.3-Flash), so no key is needed. Signal is for people who'd rather use their own provider key: every feature unlimited, and you pay the provider directly. Orty never marks up AI usage.
Which AI keys do I need?
None. Orty runs the AI (GLM-5.3-Flash) for you - nothing to paste or configure. If you'd rather bring your own provider key, the $5 Signal plan unlocks every feature unlimited.
What's a credit?
One credit = one AI action. A rating is 1 credit, a Co-Pilot message is 1, a batch counts 1 per prospect, a long-form video audit is 3, and generating a profile is 2. Free includes 3 a day; Pro includes 1,000 a month (extra credits are $9 / 500); Signal is unlimited with your own key.
How much does the AI cost to run?
Nothing extra on Free or Pro — Orty includes the managed AI, so you don't pay per generation. On the $5 Signal plan you bring your own key and pay the provider directly (often nothing on their free tiers); Orty charges nothing on top.
Can I use Orty offline?
Your CRM is synced per Whop account (Supabase + local browser cache) — so you see your data on any device after login. Lead rating and Co-Pilot drafting still need internet and run only when you trigger them (on Orty's managed engine, or your own key on Signal); the cached CRM and goals remain readable offline.
Privacy & your data
Does Orty store my data in the cloud?
Yes — per Whop account. Leads, emails, drafts, sessions, and the CRM are stored encrypted per whop_user_id in Supabase with a local browser cache. No plain CSV on disk.
Where do my screenshots go when I rate a lead?
Screenshots are used per request — when you rate a lead, the image is sent to Orty's managed AI engine (GLM-5.3-Flash) via Cloud Run, not kept on our servers beyond the request. If you're on Signal and bring your own key, it goes to that provider instead. Your CRM copy stays per account.
Does Orty scrape YouTube or social profiles?
No scraping. Orty analyzes only what you give it — screenshots, bios, links, or a public YouTube URL you paste in for a Long Form audit. It never crawls profiles, harvests emails, or monitors accounts behind your back.
Does Orty automate outreach or send spam?
No automation. Orty helps you draft and (on Pro) send individual emails you review and control — one click, one recipient, with a CAN-SPAM-compliant footer added automatically. There is no bulk blasting, no auto-follow-up bots, and no inbox rotation, by design.
What does Orty's telemetry collect?
Two systems, both content-blind. Product analytics (PostHog, server-side) records occurrence-only events — e.g. that a rating happened, never what was rated. Crash reporting (Sentry) captures errors only, with personal data scrubbed. Neither ever sees your leads, drafts, prompts, screenshots, or API keys. The old opt-in telemetry switch is gone by design; the legacy upload path is dormant and cannot be enabled.
Billing & support
Is this a subscription?
Yes. Pro is $19.99/mo via Whop — 1,000 credits a month, cancel anytime. Free tier is also available (3 ratings/day, 3 Co-Pilot messages/day) if you want to start without paying.
Will the beta price go up?
Pro is now $19.99/mo subscription via Whop. The old $29 one-time was desktop-only and is sunset — web is $19.99/mo. Existing desktop license holders are supported through October 1, 2026. Cancel anytime via Whop.
What's the refund policy?
7 days, no questions asked. If Orty isn't for you, email within 7 days of purchase and you'll get a refund — no forms, no interrogation.
How is Orty different from ChatGPT?
ChatGPT is a general chat box: it doesn't know your editing style and will invent prices you never quoted. Orty scores fit against your saved portfolio, quotes only your rate card, files every lead into a per-account pipeline, tracks replies, and diagnoses why outreach stalls — synced per Whop account.
